Hi I go by Emma, I use she/her pronouns, and my original faction is Erudite and my transfer faction is Dauntless. And my best friend is @BookwormFangirl101

The two series have been compared here several times, even precisely jobs. However, this post is about what district jobs are like in Divergent and if they even exist. Let's see...
This doesn't seem to be a thing in Chicago, since its system isn't supposed to be focused on fortune, but rather the harmony of functioning. Panem is clearly based on economical inequality, while Chicago doesn't have this aspect, it collides with its ideology. So there aren't jobs strictly devoted to it, or a particular need to own valuable things.
Two: Masonry, Stonework (and Peacekeepers)
Chicago is smaller than Panem, and seems to use houses and objects that already are there, no one builds them. Abnegation may have helped restore them like they did with roads. As for Peacekkepers, those are Dauntless.
This is Erudite.
There aren't any big bodies of water in Chicago any more, so the jobs don't exist.
I actually have no clue who provides power in Chicago. I'd expect Erudite does parts that require scientific skills, but factionless may do the menial parts of it.
Factionless drive public transportation vehicles.
Seven: Lumber and paper
Again, I don't know, maybe Amity, as they have the nature needed for it.
Ack, i perfectly remember that Caleb and Edward (or another factionless) mentioned faction clothes to each other on the train in Insurgent, but I can't for the life of me think of which one said they made clothes before. So Abnegation or factionless.
Nine: Grain, Ten: Livestock, Eleven: Agriculture
Twelve: Coal mining, Medical industry
The latter is Erudite, but I'm not sure if Chicago uses coals (except at the Ceremony lol), or where they would get them from. Spoken of, not sure why Panem uses coals either.
For factions that weren't mentioned, Candor and Abnegation, their jobs are done by the Capitol, as it has the government and the law.
For other faction jobs not mentioned, art is also only in Capitol as districts are meant to do practical, hard work; charity isn't even a thing in Panem; teachers exist in each district; the military was in Thirteen...

Hi! I'm new here:)
You can call me Bean, I use she/her pronouns, and I've been a Divergent fan for a while. Idk what faction I was born in but I stayed or transferred to Erudite:) Nice to meet y'all!
I was wondering how things would turned out if the decision about which faction will rule the government were made by letting all factions vote about it- of course, without the option to vote for one's own faction, because that wouldn't go well (and hey, it could even end up depending on Abnegation's vote, as they are the only ones that may not vote for themselves). Actually, I don't recall if we know how Abnegation was chosen for this function, but in any case, factions' view probably changed since then until Tris' time.
Let's see how I think it would go:
Amity disagrees with Candor and Dauntless, so that ruels them out. They agree with Abnegation a lot, but may see Erudite as better suited to rule? Before faction wars of course.
Candor disagrees with Amity and Abnegation, and again I think they'd prefer Erudite to Dauntless, especially because, despite them being supposed to get along with the latter, they don't seem to like each other much in Tris' time.
Abnegation would probably choose Amity since they don't agree with others.
Erudite, if still benevolent, might even go with Abnegation if they hadn't become rivals, they only are because Erudite wants the government. But if there already are villanous plans, they'd either vote Amity or Abnegation because theyr'e easy to overthrow, or Dauntless because they are allies and work for them.
Dauntless gets along with Candor better in terms of traits, but with Erudite in the novel's circumstances; and they disagree with others. I still kind of think they'd go for Erudite, they don't see Candor as someone apt to rule.
So all in all, it seems that Erudite would still have the most votes lol (assuming others don't know of their true plans yet). What do you think?
@EmmyAnimal This is inspired by that meme you posted once about “If the person who named Walkie Talkies named other things”
And you done, “If they named the factions”
I’m going to do if they named Transfers.
In fact. I was just gonna post them now I think it’ll be more fun for people to guess them.
01. Train-ie Brainy
02. Farm-ie Harm-ie
03. Feed-ie Greed-ie
04. Spy-ie No-lie-y
05. Stiff-ie Whiff-ie 😂
(So you guys would answer where they were born to where they transferred)
E.g: Amity to Candor
Or Abnegation to Dauntless

Who is y’all’s least favorite character AND who do you think is objectively the worst? I’m curious to see how they line up.
In We Can Be Mended, it said Zeke and Shauna were trying to have a kid. What should it be named? This is kind of headcannonish but eh, who cares.

I like Drew. He’s a very funny character to me. He gets basically no lines, his entire purpose is to follow Peter around and take the consequences for his actions. Don’t believe me? When they stabbed Edward in the eye, who got beat up for it? When they attempted to toss Tris off a cliff, who got beat up for it? I just think it’s funny that the only thing he ever does is get beat up.
Why is Christina Four/Tobias's girlfriend

I know there was supposed to be a sequel, but anyway. It truely bothers me that they cut off some major characters like Cara. And Uriah is only mentioned once. The entire plot is changed, like Nita’s masterplan. And that Tris reverse the serum. Å
