When training Tris' initiation class in stage 2, Lauren used her fear landscape. She explained how two years ago she was afraid of spiders, suffocation, walls that inch slowly inward and trap you between them, getting thrown out of Dauntless, uncontrollable bleeding, her father's death, public humiliation and being kidnapped by men without faces. During this part of training, Tris developed a fear of kidnapping after experiencing it in Lauren's fear landscape.
Lauren is first seen guarding candor headquarters with Tris, Uriah, Lynn, and Marlene. She is then knocked unconcious with the other non-Divergent faction members by the Erudite while they were searching for Divergents at the compound. Later, she is seen sitting at a table with Four, Tris , Lynn , Shauna , Uriah and Marlene and wittnesses Four start a physical fight with Marcus Eaton. She joins the loyal Dauntless in return to the Dauntless compound and assists in paintballing the security cameras around the compound to prevent the Erudite from spying on the Dauntless. After the death of her former intiatate Marlene , Lauren announces that the Erudite were able to find them because they had missed a few cameras in some of the dormitories.
Lauren is first mentioned in the game of Dare, a game where a group of dauntless get drunk and dare each other to do dares. She is then seen again giving a presentation on computer programing, she is asked by Max to teach the recruits for leadership computer programing because she works in tech services.
Physical AppearanceEditLauren was described by Tris as having dark hair and a pierced eyebrow when she first met her in Dauntless headquarters the day of the Choosing Ceremony. Later in Insurgent, it is mentioned that she also has a lip piercing as well and that her ear is pierced from top to bottom. She is described by Tris as having a natrually sharp and clear sounding voice.
Lauren seems to be very well-liked by her fellow faction members, as she seems to get along with everyone including her fellow intiation instructor Four. She also seems to have good relationship with her intiaties, as Uriah happily introduced her to Tris. She is loyal to her faction throughout the books, and defends Four when a group of Dauntless call him a coward.
